Kualar Lumpur Sepang F1
Malaysian Grand Prix!20-21
This was what the trip was all about. My reason for
being in South East Asia in the first place.
a petrol head myself it was an awe-inspiring experience
to arrive at the Sepang Circuit on Saturday to the sound
of F1 cars driving on the qualifying session. I was wanting
to run to the gate but I held back as Rich, Craig and
Lee didn't share my schoolboy enthusiasm! However walking
through the gate and then taking several steps at a time
up towards the grandstand I was greeted with a staggering
view of the circuit.
grandstand offered an amazing view of the circuit; we
could see almost 50% of the circuit from this very spot.
TV does nothing to the sheer excitement; the sights and
sounds of the cars at full throttle is just beyond words,
it has to be ... felt!!!
thing I must comment on is that as this was my first grand
prix trip, we had NO IDEA what was going on in the race.
We were fine until the first pit stops and then we just
did not know what was happening at all. When you watch
it on TV you have the luxury of commentary and instant
replay. When you are THERE you ... just enjoy the atmosphere
okay, so we're not all Ferrari fans. I don't doubt that
M.Shumacker is without doubt driving the best of his life
at the moment and, hands up, he's without doubt the best.
He won this race confidently but all 4 of us were all
hoping for something other than a red car passing the
finish line first. I often wonder if the sea of Ferrari
fans would still be there if they weren't multiple world
champions right now...
